Return to Operation WildLife, Linwood, Kansas home pageAdvocates for Wildlife in northeast Kansas. We rescue and rehabilitate wild animals and educate the general public.

Meet OWL's Education Animals

Although OWL strives to rehabilitate and release every animal it receives, sometimes an animal is too badly maimed or has become too accustomed to humans to be able to survive in the wild. In these cases, OWL "adopts" these animals and uses them in their educational programs to better introduce children and adults to the wildlife around them and the dangers these animals face from humans.

Please note that although many of the animals you will meet have names, these animals are not kept as pets! They live at the OWL main facility and are kept in as natural surroundings as possible. Only specially trained OWL volunteers handle these animals during the Educational Programs and other community events.

Come meet some of the animals on OWL's education team as well as learn some fun facts about each species. Click the animals with green names to see photos and learn more about the species. Animals closest to the top with black names are new additions - we hope to add their biographies and some fun facts soon.
